Based in Brooklyn, Ecotone’s full-service design and construction studio creates revitalizing wellness spaces, including spas, indoor gardens, and public works. Full-Time

Ecotone seeks a skilled woodworker or millworker with experience in commercial and luxury projects in NYC. We aim to identify an individual with a background in the trades, who thrives in being hands-on with a small team, knows their way around the wood shop and job site, and enjoys building. This individual can manage technical millwork installations, fine woodworking details, and coordination between our Brooklyn shop and job site locations. A requisite for this job is a familiarity with the logistics and challenges of a city-based installation team on job sites in and around the city. This individual should also have experience in a woodshop and with production techniques of install-ready components. Work would be split between fabrication work at the shop and installation work on job sites, sometimes requiring more shop work and sometimes requiring more installation work.

  • This critical role player should be at home in the field and the shop with other trades, working closely with management and in-house construction and design teams
  • Our operation is a design and build, so this role requires a technical understanding of custom millwork and a willingness to work alongside designers to incorporate technical knowledge of the process into the design for logistical considerations
  • Comfortable with taking the lead on developing and implementing installation processes
  • As a critical role player, this individual should understand what contributes positively to our culture
  • Strong communication skills, excellent follow-through, and a detail-oriented inclination are prerequisites
  • Takes an intermediate role in various phases of millwork production and on-site millwork installations, including but not limited to the following:
    • Millwork panels
    • Custom wooden benches
    • Plywood case work
    • Tongue and Groove cladding
    • Finish / Trim Carpentry
  • Works alongside other installers and fabricators when required
  • Provides clarifications and in-field solutions to the construction and design teams during the fabrication and installation
Qualifications
  • Osha 30, SST, etc. A competent person and related cards are a bonus
  • 3-5 Years minimum previous experience in relevant wood shop fabrication role
  • 3-5 Years of background experience hands-on in a skilled trade, ideally millwork
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, details, methods, and tools
  • Must be able to communicate their ideas and solutions quickly
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills and emotional intelligence
  • Flourishes in a role where the team is counting on them
  • Ability to learn new technology and adjust to new work patterns

Ecotone seeks a Construction Project Manager experienced in NYC high-rise commercial and luxury residential projects. This individual can manage projects with intimate familiarity with the logistics and challenges of our installation team and the trades we coordinate.

Responsibilities

  • This critical role player should be at home in the field with the trades and in the office with designers, architects, and other construction management.
  • Our operation is design and build, so this role requires a technical understanding of custom millwork, metalwork, and electrical systems and a willingness to work alongside and learn from fabricators to incorporate their knowledge of the process into daily logistical considerations.
  • Adept at implementing the latest tools, software, and networking resources to stay lean and competitive.
  • Comfortable with taking the lead on developing and implementing installation processes.

    • Coordinating Change Orders and responses to RFIs.
    • Managing compliance with our Corporate Health and Safety Program.

    • Working alongside installers and fabricators when required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Master’s or Bachelor of Architecture degree program or related combination.
  • 3-5 Years minimum previous experience in an architectural or interior design firm. 5+ Years preferred.
  • Some lead experience, even if only project-based.
  • Licensure is not required but is considered a strength.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Rhino is required.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Adobe Suite, Enscape, and Bluebeam Revu preferred.
  • Experience with custom details, material specification, and fabrication preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and delegate supporting tasks.

Full-Time

We seek a construction installer working primarily on jobs in NYC and sometimes the tri-state area. This job is for an experienced installer who is dependable and can drive. You would join a small team with a foreman responsible for our workflow, organizing jobs, and training you on the job. The responsibility we are looking for in this role is a crew member who is more than a helper, not the team lead, but you would be responsible for transporting tools, materials, and one other worker from our shop in the morning to job sites.

Requirements
  • You should have familiarity with commercial and high-end residential construction in NYC.
  • Experience as a carpenter or millworker is preferred. 3-5 Years Minimum.
  • 3-5 Years minimum previous experience in an architectural or interior design firm. 5+ Years preferred.
  • Experience as an electrician or other skilled trades will be considered. A variety of experience and trade work is a plus.
  • You must have an OSHA 30 Construction and an SST card.
  • You should have a valid US Drivers license and clean driving record.

Full-Time

The Apprentice works primarily on jobs in NYC and sometimes the tri-state area. They will receive intensive apprenticeship training on Ecotone’s construction and installation team. Through hands-on construction and building learning, they will work indoors and outdoors on fine details and furniture, at the shop in Brooklyn or during an installation on a job site. They will sometimes even learn mechanical, plumbing, and electrical design and systems. They will also drive, load, and unload trucks in this position. More than a helper, the apprentice is given essential responsibilities such as transporting tools and materials and driving other workers from our shop to job sites.

Qualifications
  • Experience as a carpenter or millworker is preferred. A variety of experience and trade work is a plus.
  • You must have an OSHA 30 Construction and an SST card, as well as, of course, a valid US Drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Some familiarity with commercial and residential construction in NYC is a plus.
